Today everything went wrong. Rain, clouds, rain, then snow. Although it was my dad's first time seeing snow, we were stuck inside figuring out what to do. We finally decided to go to the aquarium because it was our only indoor option that we could think of. We walked to grab a quick lunch at a Chinese restaurant called Cha's, but it turned out to be bad. Each food item was over-salted and there were people smoking inside. I really hate that people are allowed to smoke indoors. Oh, the other day women were smoking in their bathroom stalls, even when we went to a fancy restaurant! Yuck.
At the restaurant, I discovered that one of my flat boots had a small hole in it at the heel because my socks got soaked. We decided we had to buy another pair or walk a long way back to the hotel. We ended up only seeing very expensive boots, none of which caught my eye. In the freezing cold, we all felt defeated so my parents suggested we just called it a day. The weather really brought us down today.
After showering, we all fell asleep before dinner, around 6pm. We all woke up around 11pm and walked around to find some place to eat. We spotted a late night restaurant which was surprisingly full of people. I was pretty desperate to go inside instead of walking around aimlessly because of the cold.
We really had not prepared well enough for Shanghai's weather today. All in all, today was not our day. Maybe tomorrow will be better...
